Mikey’s Place Performing Arts Scholarship

A scholarship will be given in Spring 2011 by Mikey’s Place-A Workshop for the Arts. The award honors the life and memory of Mikey Kingsley, a young actor and director who graduated from Mayfield High School in 2003.

The Mikey’s Place Performing Arts Scholarship provides $500.00 of support to a graduating Las Cruces senior who has shown a high level of commitment to the performing arts.  It is awarded to a student who will remain in Las Cruces and attend New Mexico State University with a major in Theatre, Cinema or a related field.  GPA is not a primary evaluation factor, but the student must demonstrate the necessary ACT scores to enter NMSU in the Fall of 2011.

Schools may nominate a student by writing a brief note about their participation in theatre and the contributions they have made to school productions by their inspired presence. Please also submit a copy of their senior portfolio via video, essay or photos. If your class did not create a portfolio, you may contact us regarding other supporting materials.

Please submit your recommendation and supporting materials to Mikey’s Place – A Workshop for the Arts, no later than April 30, 2011. The 2010 scholarship has been awarded to Elizabeth Staski of Mayfield High School.  She will be attending New Mexico State University in the fall of 2010 majoring in Theater and Film.  Everyone who knows her say she is born to act.  She has acted in numerous plays in wide ranging roles.  She has worked behind the scenes too, so, she knows how theater works from the inside out.  She is talented and creative;  we are sure she will be someone to watch in the future.
